What is this all about settling down, please don't yell or shout.
I feel guilty not being well exposed to the Malaysian indie music scene, BU-U-U-UT. I know who Zee Avi and Yuna is. So the latest song that I'm hearing now is Concrete Wall from her sophomore album Ghostbird. I'm so proud to hear this unique song in a Gossip Girl episode the other day. The first thing that got me hypnotized was her repetitive "boom sha-clack-clack" in the background. Well, at first I thought it reminded me of a sound that goes "cluck-cluck", but um. Maybe it's just me.
When I hear this song, I think about sitting on a tire swing under a nice big shady tree on a breezy afternoon, or lying down in a fresh green grass with my friends under a nice big grandfather tree, looking at the sky and talking about our high school days. This could be our song on the radio next to us on the background.
As a Malaysian, I regret to say that I have nor purchased her album yet, but hopefully soon. But to say thank you to us consumers, I beg you not mimic the ad that we often see before the movie in cinemas. There, those two Malays whose faces I'll never forget (hey, cool way to promote yourself, come to think of it!).
"Terima kasih... [for supporting the local film industry]...[downloading legally online]... atas sokongan anda."
Zee Avi, congratulations and thank you for the music you've been making. I hope to see more in the future.
