I must ask. Is blogging dying? This kind of matter has been debated for a couple of years now, and even though this question has popped in my head several times, it never really got to me.
What triggered me to blog about this was when I wanted to see updates of my high school friends, who would blog about their updates and their personal opinions and such. You may notice that I don't seem to have much links to friends' blog but I sometimes, I prefer not to reveal where or whose blogs do I go to (so let's say I follow my ex-crush's blog, who would notice?).
Five years before Facebook and Twitter popped in to the scene, I as a student would follow blogs (Google used "follow" before Twitter came up. Wait, was it Google? Oh, to-mae-to, to-mah-to). I'd read updates on how stressed they would be before an exam or be envious that they went for an outing and that I'd wish I was invited to that outing (no, seriously. It happened). And sometimes, when I watch a movie, I would post it and give my opinions and (he he) sometimes rate it from my point of view. Heck, sometimes I would post what are my favorite TV shows and what have I been up to.
But slowly, I began to realize how great it would be to post short updates on a platform where everyone can see what I'm up to. It was so easy to express my thoughts (not initially, though. Remember when Facebook had less than 150 characters?)
Then I became less active on blogging. Once in a while, I would blog about funny moments or just share a few words before going under the radar (when I'm actually active on Facebook and Twitter). But then in the long run, I figured that blogging is still worth being around. Judging from this blog, I may seem new, but I have indeed been blogging ever since I was sixteen.
For me, blogging here feels more... actually, I don't have the word for it. It's like it's off the beaten track. Because I don't usually publicize that this is my blog/to check out my blog, I don't get much attention here. It's like those who know about this place, knows what my real interests are. I wouldn't post on Facebook that I'm really pissed. That kind of emotion deserves a blog post about because I get to rant. Again, those who know about it, would've read about it.
So, I'll continue to be blogging. It's not really for attention, it's just some things are worth more than 140 words (not characters).
Here's a final word before you hear from me again.
