BIG FAN! Source: my own. |
Like what the critics of The Hunger Games said, I seriously couldn't put it down. It took me around two days to finish the book. But I took in every word, being absorbed into the suspense and the vision of Katniss running in the woods in my head as I read the description of her movement and thoughts.
Telling from a one-person perspective, it tells the story of a teenager being forced to play in the Hunger Games, where two representatives from each 12 districts would battle to the death in order to survive. In a land where the United States of America once ruled, small villages called the 'district' are struggling with poverty and the limited sources of food. In order to survive, Katniss has been hunting in the woods to bargain for food. It's like the barter system has been relived once again.

The big win of the game (ha ha, were you thinking of it)? The district of the winner would be showered with food, water and supplies for one whole year. Now that's something worth dying for.
So you can imagine how shocked Katniss is when she finds herself competing in the Games. She's to kill her opponents who get in her way. And these are not just opponents. They're kids age 12 to 18. But they have skills to hunt an to kill.
Sounds interesting? Unfortunately, I can't get my hands on the next two books, because I'm really determined to save up for my education.

Oh wait, did I mention that there's romance in the HG trilogy?
Here's the trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games. Enjoy!
See? This is the distraction that I'm afraid of, but don't worry. It's over now. Until next March 23rd.
Ooh, I love that date.
